what is supported employment?
Helping our Friends Succeed in Work and Life
Supported Employment is a service available through the Texas Home and Community-based Services (HCS) program. It helps eligible individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) obtain and maintain paid employment in integrated community workplaces. Support is individualized and may include assistance with job placement, learning workplace responsibilities, and developing the skills needed to succeed at work.
How it works
Personalized Support for Employment Success
Supported Employment focuses on helping individuals succeed in paid jobs that match their abilities, interests, and employment goals. Depending on the individual’s assessed needs and approved service plan, support may include job coaching, workplace training, assistance with job-related routines, and strategies for maintaining employment. Services are coordinated according to applicable HCS program requirements.
